DNP Limited is a Govt. of Assam Undertaking registered under Companies Act, 1956 on 15th June, 2007 and Joint Venture Company of Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL), Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) and Oil India Limited (OIL).
Assam Gas Company conceived the project of transportation of natural gas from Duliajan to Numaligarh for Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL) way back in 2004. OIL and NRL signed an agreement for gas supply from Madhuban at Duliajan to NRL on 17th March 2005 and a gas transportation agreement was signed between AGCL and NRL on 27th June 2005. Subsequently, NRL offered to pick up a 40% equity stake in the project and a new company, DNP Ltd with equity participation by AGCL (60%) and NRL (40%) was formed. The company was registered on 15th June 2007 with its operational headquarters at AGCL, Duliajan. Later on Oil India Limited joined hands for an equity participation in the project. Now the equity stands at AGCL (51 %,),NRL (26%) and OIL (23%).
The Company completed its first project of supply of Natural Gas to NRL by laying 192 km dedicated pipeline from Duliajan to Numaligarh Refinery Limited at Numaligarh on 28th February, 2011.The Pipeline enroute the districts of Dibrugarh, Charaideo, Sivasagar, Jorhat and Golaghat of Assam with 05 No.s of Sectionalizing Valve (SV) stations and 02 No.s of Intermediate Pigging (IP) stations including Despatch Terminal at Madhuban and Receiving Terminal at NRL.
